Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan joined a special religious programme at the historic Rajban Bihar here this morning, seeking blessings for the prosperity of the country and the nation.
During the programme, the minister took part in various religious activities, including performing Buddhamurti Dan, Sanghadan and Astaparishkar Dan, and prayed for the blessings of Lord Buddha, said a ministry press release.
At the function, Dipen Dewan also offered prayers seeking eternal peace for his deceased parents, parents-in-law and departed relatives as well as for the happiness and peace of all living beings. The monastery premises were filled to capacity with devotees attending the religious event.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, "We want to build such a Bangladesh where people of all religions will live with mutual respect and harmony."
He also prayed to the Almighty for the continued success of the Bangladesh government and the overall prosperity of the beloved motherland and the nation, adding that unity must be maintained to sustain the continuity of peace and development.
Resident head of Rangamati Rajban Bihar and chief disciple of Banabhante, Srimat Praggyalankar Mahathera, delivered religious sermons at the programme.
Among others, the minister's spouse Maitree Dewan, leaders of Rangamati district BNP and local distinguished persons were present.
At the end of the programme, all present took part in special prayers for world peace and the welfare of the country.
