Indian police have arrested Faisal Karim Masud, the prime accused in the murder case of former Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, near India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal.
According to India’s news agency ANI, citing West Bengal Police, Masud was detained on Sunday by members of the state’s Special Task Force STF from the Bangaon border area.
The report said two Bangladeshi nationals — identified as Rahul, also known as Faisal Karim Masud, and Alamgir Hossain — were arrested on charges of intrusion and unlawful stay in India.
West Bengal Police stated that the detainees are linked to the killing of Bangladeshi political activist Sharif Osman Hadi.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details about possible extradition proceedings. The arrest marks a significant development in the cross-border investigation into the high-profile murder case.
