Bangladesh currently has 2.5 lakh metric tons of fuel oil in stock and as a result, the fuel supply situation is normal.
A total of 255,018 metric tons of fuel are in stock across the country as of today, joint secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division Monir Hossain Chowdhury told a press conference at the Secretariat here.
He said the largest amount of fuel stored is diesel – 1,22,660 metric tons, which is about 63 percent of the total fuel.
With sufficient diesel stock, it is possible to ensure uninterrupted supply to the country’s agriculture, transport and industrial sectors, he said.
Besides, there are 9,210 metric tons of octane in stock, which is enough to meet the needs of personal vehicles and high-performance engines, and the stock of petrol is 12,194 metric tons, he said.
Monir Hossain also informed that the stock of jet fuel is 41,876 metric tons, while furnace oil 58,736 metric tons, kerosene 9,378 metric tons and marine fuel 1,153 metric tons.
He mentioned that the current fuel stock is sufficient to meet the country's energy needs.
