Education, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon today said the government is working to improve the education quality and also the quality of teaching.
“Quality improvement is an agenda of the government. We must progress in improving quality of teachers and the education system”, he said.
The minister made this remark while addressing a research paper presentation programme as the chief guest at a city hotel here.
He said there is no alternative to develop the future generation through the education, saying that the people of the country is highest investing for the development of the human resources.
The guardians are also maximum spending for their kids.
Referring to global competition, the education minister said : “We are in the global competition, so, we have to work together for building future Bangladesh.”
Regarding the development of the education sector, Milon said he had worked as a state minister of the education ministry nearly 20 years ago but no significant progress was held in the ministry’s works after a long period.
The government is huge investing in the education sector through the ‘Learning with Happiness’, generally combine positive psychology, mindfulness, and, in some cases, breathing techniques like Sudarshan Kriya to boost mental well-being, he told the function.
For quality development of the education system, Dr Ehsanul Huq Milon said the government is implementing the Fifth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP-5), a 5-year initiative , starting in Bangladesh on July 1, 2026 with an expenditure of Taka 51,000 crore.
The main objective of the programme is to improve education quality by training teachers in English, building on the Fourth Programme (PEDP4) to cover remaining staff among the 376,489 nationwide.
The net expenditure of previous PEDP4 was Taka 32,000.
Prime Minister's Adviser to the Ministry of Education Mahdi Amin also spoke the function as the special guest. Chief of education of Unicef Bangladesh Deepa Sankar also addressed the function.
