The government has continued its response and public awareness activities to address the impact of flash floods, landslides and other natural disasters in Bangladesh's southeastern and northeastern districts, as the overall situation gradually improves in many affected areas.
According to the latest reports from the Department of Mass Communication under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, district and upazila authorities are monitoring conditions while continuing awareness campaigns on disaster preparedness and post-flood safety.
In Chattogram, floodwaters have affected the metropolitan area and 15 upazilas, with Satkania, Banshkhali, Lohagara, Chandanaish, Boalkhali and Sandwip identified as the worst-hit areas. Public awareness campaigns remain ongoing during both the flood and recovery phases.
Flood conditions in Habiganj have returned to normal, with no families currently stranded by floodwaters and no reported casualties or landslides. The district recorded 5.5 millimetres of rainfall over the past 24 hours.
In Khagrachhari, floodwaters have receded from most areas, although normalcy has yet to be fully restored. River levels remain below danger marks and no new landslides have been reported. Awareness activities on disaster preparedness and recovery continue across the district.
Cox's Bazar has also seen significant improvement. Water levels in the Bakkhali River at Ramu and the Matamuhuri River at Chakaria remain well below danger levels, while no landslides or hill collapses were reported during the past 24 hours. Authorities are continuing awareness campaigns on post-flood health risks, dengue and chikungunya prevention.
Conditions in Rangamati and Bandarban are now stable. Authorities are maintaining public awareness efforts on landslide risks and post-disaster safety, while residents sheltered during the floods have gradually begun returning to their homes.
Flood conditions are also improving in Moulvibazar, while Lama, Ramgarh, Patiya and Kaptai have reported normal conditions. Rivers in these areas continue to flow below danger levels, with no immediate risk of fresh flooding or landslides.
Government information offices are continuing awareness campaigns on health and hygiene, snakebite prevention, protecting children, women, elderly people and persons with disabilities, avoiding unsafe electrical installations, preventing dengue by eliminating stagnant water and ensuring transparent relief distribution as recovery efforts continue across the affected regions.
