The Bangladesh Sramik Kallyan Foundation has approved financial assistance amounting to Tk 12 crore 98 lakh 65 thousand for 2,199 workers and their families across both formal and informal sectors.
The decision was taken at the 34th board meeting held on Sunday at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, chaired by Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury.
During the same meeting, the board also approved a budget of Tk 68 crore 50 lakh 10 thousand for the fiscal year 2026–27.
Speaking at the meeting, the minister emphasized that ensuring workers’ welfare, providing support during crises and disasters, and strengthening the social safety net remain key government priorities.
He also highlighted the need for coordinated efforts among the government, employers, and workers’ organizations to build a balanced, worker-friendly, and exploitation-free labour environment.
Labour Secretary Md. Abdur Rahman Tarafder, Director General of the foundation Mohammad Kuddus Ali Sarker, and representatives from various ministries, workers, and employers attended the meeting.
