Bangladesh and Malaysia have held high-level bilateral talks aimed at expanding bilateral tourism cooperation by increasing direct flight frequencies, streamlining visa processing, advancing hospitality skills training, and unlocking employment avenues for skilled Bangladeshi professionals in Malaysia's tourism sector.
The discussions took place during a formal bilateral meeting between Bangladesh’s State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat and Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Chiew Choon Man in Putrajaya on Tuesday. Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Md. Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury accompanied the state minister.
According to an official press release issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism on Wednesday, both sides reviewed bilateral tourism linkages and explored avenues to offer diverse, engaging travel experiences to tourists from both nations. The delegates placed strong emphasis on expanding direct aviation connectivity, sharing best practices in tourism governance, and introducing streamlined visa protocols, including pre-verification systems to facilitate cross-border travel.
A central theme of the dialogue was capacity building and workforce integration within the hospitality sector. Acknowledging Malaysia’s rising demand for trained hospitality and hotel management personnel, the representatives discussed mechanisms to recruit certified, skilled Bangladeshi workers to bridge manpower shortages.
Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to fostering greater people-to-people contact and reciprocal cultural exchange programs to enrich bilateral understanding.
The Malaysian delegation included Deputy Secretary-General for Tourism Chua Choon Hwa, Tourism Malaysia Director of International Promotion (Asia & Africa) Nuwal Fadhilah Ku Azmi, alongside senior ministry officials. The Bangladesh delegation featured Deputy High Commissioner Mosammat Shahanara Monica and First Secretary (Commercial) Pranab Kumar Ghosh.
