Outgoing Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam
In a significant executive reallocation, the government is reshuffling key portfolios across the cabinet, reassigning Afroza Khanam from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism to the Ministry of Food, according to high-level cabinet sources.
Under the fresh arrangement, the current State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Rashiduzzaman Millat, is being elevated to full cabinet rank and will assume complete charge of the civil aviation and tourism portfolio.
Currently, the food portfolio is overseen by Md. Abdul Bari, who also holds the portfolio of State Minister for Public Administration. With Afroza Khanam taking over the Ministry of Food, Abdul Bari will exclusively retain his responsibilities within the Ministry of Public Administration.
The broader cabinet restructuring introduces several key appointments and portfolio shifts:
Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, standing committee member of the BNP, is slated to take charge of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives (LGRD).
Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho is set to be inducted as the Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
Saching Prue Jerry is being appointed as the Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
Mohammad Shamim Kayser Lincoln is taking oath as the State Minister for Religious Affairs.
Discussions are also underway regarding the appointment of the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser, Humayun Kabir, as a State Minister for Foreign Affairs alongside Shama Obaed Islam, who continues to hold her existing state ministerial post in the foreign affairs ministry. Furthermore, political deliberations indicate that Zahir Uddin Swapon may be appointed as an Adviser to the Prime Minister with the status of a cabinet minister.
The oath-taking ceremony for the newly inducted and reshuffled ministers and state ministers is scheduled to take place at the historic Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Friday evening, following the formal swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected President, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
