The newly-appointed ministers and state ministers paid tribute to the Liberation War heroes through laying wreaths at the altar of the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar on Saturday.
Earlier in the morning, new President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid rich tribute to the fallen heroes of 1971 at the memorial.
On Friday, President Fakhrul administered the oath of four new ministers and two new state ministers. Portfolios were assigned to them following the oath-taking.
The four new ministers are: BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andaleeve Rahman, former state minister for civil aviation and tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat and Member of Parliament from Bandarban Sa Ching Prue Jerry.
The new state ministers include former foreign affairs adviser to prime minister Humaiun Kobir and Member of Parliament from Gaibandha-4 Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Lincoln.
