President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday emphasized that the timeless teachings delivered by the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in his historic Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjatul Wida) sermon on human dignity, equity, fraternity, justice, and reciprocal rights remain profoundly relevant for the entire global community.
The President made the remarks while addressing as the chief guest at the formal inauguration of the fortnight-long Eid-e-Miladunnabi (1448 Hijri) celebrations at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka. The national program is jointly organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Islamic Foundation.
Highlighting contemporary global challenges, the President observed:
"In a fractured world plagued by conflict, hatred, intolerance, discrimination, extremism, and moral decay, there is no alternative to embracing the ideals of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Division and vengeance never empower a nation. To ensure that past authoritarianism, fascism, and systemic injustice never return, we must stay united in safeguarding democracy, rule of law, good governance, and fundamental human rights inspired by the Prophet's universal message of peace and justice."
President Alamgir stated that the administration is steadfast in elevating the dignity and socioeconomic welfare of religious leaders across all faiths. He noted that regular monthly honorariums have already commenced for Imams, Muezzins, and Khadems, alongside staff at places of worship of other religious communities, expressing optimism that all mosques and religious institutions nationwide will come under full monthly stipend coverage before 2030.
During the inaugural session, the President formally unveiled the Seerat Commemorative Souvenir published on the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi 1448 AH and received a set of the Al-Quranul Karim Encyclopedia presented on behalf of the Islamic Foundation by its Director General.
Presided over by Minister for Religious Affairs Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, the ceremony was addressed by State Minister for Religious Affairs Mohammad Shamim Kaysar and Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad as special guests, alongside religious scholars and senior administrative officials.
