Parliament session
Four parliamentary standing committees—covering the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Defence, Committee on Public Undertakings, and the Ministry of Public Administration—were constituted in the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni placed the proposals in the House on behalf of and with the approval of Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tariq Rahman. The session was presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
The committees were framed pursuant to Article 76 of the Constitution and in accordance with Rules 246, 247, and 248 of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, comprising members of the 13th National Parliament.
Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu (Shariatpur-3) was named chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. Its members include the minister-in-charge (if an MP), Anindya Islam Amit (Jashore-3), Mohammad Koysor Ahmed (Sunamganj-3), Rafiqul Islam Hilali (Netrokona-3), S. M. Jahangir Hossain (Dhaka-18), Nayab Yusuf Ahmed (Faridpur-3), Momtaz Alo (Reserved Women's Seat-28), Mohammad Nazibur Rahman (Pabna-1), and Md. Abul Hasnat (Cumilla-4).
Md. Ashraf Uddin (Narsingdi-5) was appointed chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Defence. Committee members include the minister-in-charge, Md. Shafiqur Rahman (Dhaka-15), Nurul Islam Moni (Barguna-2), S. M. Jilani (Gopalganj-3), Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu (Shariatpur-3), Abdus Salam Azad (Munshiganj-2), Reza Ahamed (Kushtia-1), Lutfur Rahman (Cox's Bazar-3), and Md. Abdul Baten (Dhaka-16).
Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni (Barguna-2) heads the Committee on Public Undertakings. Its members comprise Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu (Shariatpur-3), Md. Akhtaruzzaman Mia (Dinajpur-4), Tahsina Rushdir (Sylhet-2), Khandakar Abu Ashfaq (Dhaka-1), Mohammad Koysor Ahmed (Sunamganj-3), Biswas Jahangir Alam (Narail-1), Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan (Narayanganj-1), Mohammad Nazibur Rahman (Pabna-1), and Mohammad Kamal Hossain (Dhaka-5).
Sayeed Ahmed (Shariatpur-1) was appointed chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Public Administration. The members include Md. Abdul Bari (Joypurhat-2), A. B. M. Ashraf Uddin Nizan (Lakshmipur-4), Shahjahan Chowdhury (Cox's Bazar-4), Mohammad Nurul Islam (Bhola-4), Md. Amirul Islam Khan (Sirajganj-5), Fakhar Uddin Ahmed (Mymensingh-11), Rehena Akhter Ranu (Reserved Women's Seat-4), Shahjahan Chowdhury (Chattogram-15), and Md. Nurul Islam (Chapai Nawabganj-3).
