Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain
Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain asserted that the nation's power and gas sectors were systematically devastated over the preceding 18 years, leaving behind systemic ruin. Addressing the opening ceremony of the month-long "Islamic Book Fair-2026" on Saturday afternoon (September 12), organized by the Islamic Foundation's publication department at the eastern plaza of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, the minister appealed for patience, emphasizing that the interim administration must be afforded adequate time to rehabilitate these critical utility sectors and steer them back toward stability.
Illustrating his appeal for patience, the minister drew an analogy to a newborn child, noting that a baby cannot be expected to call its father immediately after birth and requires natural development before speaking. He maintained that the government similarly requires reasonable time to function effectively, expressing confidence that with divine faith, public cooperation, and patient perseverance along the right path, all national hurdles, including utility deficits, can be resolved systematically.
Turning to the Islamic Foundation, Hossain claimed the institution had been heavily politicized and subjected to partisan alignment over the past 18 years. He pledged to dismantle past ideological influences, repositioning the foundation as an authentic center for propagating the teachings of the Quran and Hadith. Stressing internal administrative transparency, he vowed to purge irregularities from the organization, declaring that no citizen should ever have to pay bribes to receive legitimate services. The event was chaired by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs AHM Kamruzzaman, with Director General of the Islamic Foundation Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi also addressing the gathering.
