Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke today discussed ways to further expand economic cooperation and human resource development between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
The British envoy paid a courtesy call on the prime minister at his office at the Cabinet Division of Bangladesh Secretariat this afternoon.
“During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, including the overall existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UK,” Prime Minister’s Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque told reporters.
They discussed expanding cooperation in trade and investment, economic cooperation, education, skills development, migration and human resource development, he said.
The two sides also laid emphasis on further strengthening the historic and friendly relations between Bangladesh and the UK, and making the bilateral ties more multifaceted.
They exchanged views on continued UK cooperation in Bangladesh’s economic development and progress and explored prospects for further expanding trade and investment between the two countries, the assistant press secretary said.
The prime minister and the high commissioner also expressed hope of taking the existing friendly relations between the two countries forward and opening up new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
