New security regulations have been imposed on visitor access to the Bangladesh Secretariat, barring external visitors from entering the premises before 12:00 PM, officials confirmed on Tuesday (October 13). The administration has also introduced strict quotas limiting the number of entry passes ministers and senior bureaucrats can issue daily.
The measures were finalized during a high-level security review meeting convened by the Cabinet Division on October 4, presided over by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani.
According to the meeting minutes, ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers, advisers, and special assistants can issue a maximum of 10 visitor passes per day. Cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, senior secretaries, and secretaries are permitted to approve up to five passes daily. Additional secretaries can authorize up to three passes, while joint secretaries are limited to two.
To further regulate internal movement and reinforce security protocols, separate access control systems will be installed across all individual multi-story buildings within the Secretariat complex, allowing localized credential verification.
In addition, a dedicated registration protocol is being established for foreign visitors. Official logs will record their biometric identities, stated purposes of visit, designated officials or departments, and precise entry and exit timestamps.
Cabinet Division officials affirmed that the restrictions are designed to curb unauthorized foot traffic, streamline administrative operations, and bolster physical security across the nation's primary executive headquarters.
