Prime Minister Tarique Rahman
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Khulna and Mongla on Thursday (October 22) to inspect major infrastructure developments and explore economic opportunities surrounding the Sundarbans and Mongla Port, marking his first tour of the southwestern region since assuming office.
According to the official itinerary, the prime minister will conduct an aerial survey of Hiron Point and the Sundarbans by helicopter before landing at the Nalian Secondary School ground in Dacope upazila. He will then board a Bangladesh Coast Guard speedboat to Akram Point to inspect the feasibility of a proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal project.
The premier will subsequently travel by river to Mongla Port to participate in a high-level review meeting and inspect port jetties alongside the proposed Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) industrial zone. The visit is strategically geared toward enhancing port throughput, attracting domestic and foreign direct investment, and generating regional employment. Following this visit, the prime minister is slated to return to Khulna on November 5 to inaugurate the second edition of the "Notun Kuri Sports" festival at the district stadium.
