Dr. Zubaida Rahman inspects hospital facilities during her visit to Tokyo
On the third day of her visit to Japan, prominent cardiologist and spouse of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, visited several key healthcare, elderly care, and cultural institutions across Tokyo on Wednesday (October 28). Her full-day itinerary included inspections of a specialized clinic, a community-based home-care nursing facility, and the Tokyo National Museum, concluding with a courtesy meeting with Princess Takamado of the Japanese Imperial Family.
Dr. Zubaida began her morning schedule by visiting the Fujita Health University Haneda Clinic, situated in Haneda Innovation City, Tokyo. Clinic officials briefed her on the facility’s state-of-the-art diagnostic and clinical technologies. Officials highlighted an advanced CT scanner operating at the facility, noting that only five such machines currently exist worldwide. She also observed the clinic’s PET-CT and MRI setups, as well as robotic systems utilized for automated medical specimen collection.
Later in the day, Dr. Zubaida visited the "Hongo" community-based home-care nursing centre operated by the Sasakawa Health Foundation in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. She toured the nursing and rehabilitation facilities and engaged in discussions with healthcare workers regarding community elder-care models. Following lunch, she visited the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park to explore historical artifacts and traditional Japanese cultural heritage. In the late afternoon, she met with representatives of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation before paying a courtesy call on Princess Takamado, as confirmed by Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Sujauddoula Sujan Mahmud.
