Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu
Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Asadul Habib Dulu has declared that practices such as nighttime ballot stuffing, engineered dummy contests, and predetermined election outcomes are now permanently relegated to history. Addressing the Thakurgaon District Law and Order and Coordination Committee meeting on Thursday night (November 5), the minister stated that the recent by-election in Thakurgaon has set a defining precedent in transforming the country's electoral culture, emphasizing that structural reforms achieved in the voting mechanism must now be replicated across all other sectors of the state apparatus.
Highlighting the historic political transition, Dulu recalled that students, youths, farmers, and working-class citizens sacrificed their lives during the post-August 5 mass movement to demand fundamental national transformation. He noted that because Bangladesh had repeatedly lost its democratic path in the past, reviving the nation requires dismantling obsolete, corrupt administrative methods rather than maintaining status quo governance. Emphasizing institutional patience, he stated that the current administration is actively departing from bureaucratic conventionalism under the leadership of the Prime Minister, demonstrating that sustained democratic governance serves as the bedrock of lasting socio-economic development.
Addressing institutional delivery, the minister criticized the dismal state of public healthcare facilities, pointing out that citizens often fall more ill due to unhygienic hospital environments that ought to be spotless public spaces. He urged rapid cultural shifts in civic and administrative hygiene across schools, colleges, and government directorates, citing recent urban clean-up drives in Dhaka—such as the removal of unauthorized signboards from lampposts—as clear proof that progress is attainable through sheer political will. Highlighting administrative efficiency, Dulu noted that the Prime Minister arrives at the office before 9:00 AM and holds inter-ministerial meetings directly at the Secretariat rather than distant executive offices, saving working hours and curbing traffic disruptions while setting a personal benchmark for public servants. He also pointed to youth development initiatives like the 'Notun Kuri Sports' program designed to protect emerging generations from delinquency. The meeting was attended by newly elected Thakurgaon-1 Member of Parliament Mirza Faisal Amin, alongside senior district administration officials, law enforcement chiefs, and representatives of various government departments.
