Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, called for national unity and inclusive development at a massive electoral rally organized by the 11-party alliance at the historic Madrasah Maidan in Rajshahi on Thursday afternoon.
Addressing a crowd of over 150,000 supporters, including nearly 60,000 women activists, Dr. Rahman emphasized that Bangladesh belongs to all citizens—Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and indigenous communities such as the Santal—and vowed to prevent any division within the nation. He said the alliance’s slogan for the upcoming election is “United Bangladesh”, aiming to eliminate hatred, violence, and discrimination across communities.
Dr. Rahman outlined his vision for a peaceful Bangladesh where children receive proper nutrition and education, citizens enjoy safety and dignity, and women live with security and respect. He emphasized the government’s responsibility to provide health services, including free care for children up to five years and accessible healthcare for retirees, along with specialized hospitals in each divisional city and for labor-intensive areas.
Speaking on governance, he stressed that leadership should be based on merit, competence, and patriotism, rather than family lineage, dominance politics, or corruption. He also called for strong foreign relations based on equality and respect, and urged youth to remain determined in shaping a new Bangladesh.

Dr. Rahman referred to the upcoming February 12 elections and referendum as a chance to reject past corrupt and oppressive politics, describing it as an opportunity to give a “red card” to unjust leadership. He encouraged voters to support justice, equity, and human-centric governance through their ballots.
The rally was chaired by Dr. Keramat Ali, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Rajshahi city and Central Working Committee member, and jointly moderated by Somaj Uddin Mondol, Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Rajshahi, and Golam Mortuza, District Secretary. Other speakers included JAGPAAR spokesperson Rashed Pradhan, NCP leader Dr. Mahmuda Mitus, and leaders from the 11-party alliance.
During the event, Dr. Rahman handed over symbolic scales of justice to the 11-party candidates contesting six Rajshahi constituencies. Earlier in the day, he delivered speeches at rallies in Nawabganj and Chapainawabganj, and at Godagari in the afternoon.
The Amir highlighted plans to revive the local economy, including reopening sugar mills and industrial units, and called for sustainable development under a transparent, corruption-free administration that prioritizes citizens’ welfare.
