Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Minister for Local Government and senior BNP leader, described his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, as the greatest blessing and achievement of his life. He warmly recalled her immense courage, sacrifices, and unwavering support during the most turbulent phases of his personal and political journey.
Speaking in a recent video interview with an online media portal, the veteran politician reflected on family life and his spouse's pivotal role. Mirza Fakhrul shared that transitioning into full-time politics shortly after marriage pushed their family into complete uncertainty. During those challenging years, his wife worked at an insurance company to manage family expenses and ensure proper education for their daughters, who used local transport like tempos to attend Holy Cross School.
Recounting moments of political hardship, Fakhrul highlighted her remarkable resilience during police raids and arrests. He noted that she never expressed frustration over his demanding political life, remaining a steadfast source of strength throughout their long journey together.
