Islami Andolan Bangladesh Senior Naib-e-Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim (Shaykh-e-Charmonai) has stated that while faces in power have changed through historical struggles, core state policies and governing ideologies remain fundamentally unaltered, asserting that his party's explicit mission is the full implementation of Sharia law in Bangladesh free from foreign hegemony.
"Islami Andolan Bangladesh's objective is clear-cut: we want to establish Sharia law on the soil of Bangladesh. The intimidating glare of neither the United States nor India will hold sway in this country,"
Faizul Karim declared while addressing as chief guest the biennial conference of the party’s Khoksa Upazila unit at the Khoksa Upazila Parishad auditorium in Kushtia on Sunday afternoon.
Lashing out at systemic administrative corruption, Faizul Karim questioned the capacity of corrupt individuals to eliminate financial malpractices. "Can a corrupt individual ever put an end to corruption? Tell me, what is the scale of corruption across Bangladesh today? Whether people grasp it or not, infertile soil cannot yield a prime harvest. An incompetent mentor cannot shape an exemplary disciple. Likewise, an unethical leader can never elevate a country to the pinnacle of excellence. It simply is not possible," he remarked.
Illustrating his perspective on recurring regime transitions, he noted, "Let us look at a straightforward analogy. Suppose there are three actors named A, B, and C, and all three are thieves. When A assumes power, what happens? People call to oust A. Through blood, intense movements, revolutions, strikes, and blockades, A is removed and replaced by B. What does B do then? Another cycle of street movements and unrest begins. What is the fundamental cause? The individual at the helm changes, but the system, the policy, and the underlying ideology remain unchanged."
Speaking to journalists following the conclusion of the conference, Faizul Karim pointed to Bangladesh's historical trajectory of governance changes. "Our country has undergone repeated political transformations. We ended British rule, brought an end to Pakistani dominion, and dismantled the regime of 2024 to install a new administration. Several months have passed since, yet we have failed to curb corruption or stop embezzlement. Rulers change repeatedly, but corruption persists unabated," he asserted.
He further alleged that core political dynamics in the country are deeply mired in graft and factional dominance. "Corruption has permeated the veins of mainstream political structures. Why do people pursue politics? Often to institutionalize corruption, run extortion rackets, monopolize local revenue collections, and seize control of ferry terminals. If that remains the underlying motive, how can peace be established in this land? A privileged few will amass sudden riches, while the overwhelming majority of the citizenry remains trapped in distress," he observed.
Highlighting the unpredictability of mass political consciousness, Faizul Karim added, "Did people ever imagine it was possible to overthrow Sheikh Hasina? Many believed it couldn't happen, yet it transpired abruptly. If the public collectively resolves to establish Islamic unity and values tomorrow, it can materialize immediately. It is entirely within reach, as shifting public consciousness takes merely a moment."
At the conclusion of the event, Faizul Karim announced the newly constituted committee for Islami Andolan Bangladesh's Khoksa Upazila unit, appointing Alhaj Anwar Khan as president and Maulana Nazrul Islam as secretary.
