Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Nurul Islam Saddam
Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central President Nurul Islam Saddam has cautioned that the current administration risks an eventual downfall if it continues on its present trajectory, alleging that national conditions have shown no substantial improvement in the post-election period, with violent crimes persisting, extortion multiplying, and institutional syndicates becoming further entrenched.
Speaking to journalists on Friday afternoon following a freshers' reception and career orientation program organized for students of Jamalpur Science and Technology University (JUST) at Lewis Village in Jamalpur town, the student leader voiced concerns over ongoing governance challenges.
"The BNP had claimed that holding elections would resolve all underlying national crises," Saddam stated. "Yet, following the polls, the overall ground reality has barely improved. Rather, murder rates remain alarming, extortion has multiplied several times over, and illicit syndicates across administrative departments have grown even stronger."
Warning the ruling authorities, he added, "If the government persists along this course without honoring its commitments to the public, this administrative failure could precipitate its downfall. We urge the government to take immediate and effective measures to address these crises, and we call for mutual cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition in the greater national interest."
The Chhatra Shibir president further criticized bureaucratic appointments, claiming that incompetent personnel are being placed in public departments without merit-based evaluation. He asserted that failure to rein in entrenched syndicates, bribery, and corruption has led to unchecked administrative irregularities.
Addressing the national energy shortage, Saddam remarked, "The ongoing gas crisis is no exception; it highlights a distinct lack of political will from the government. When opposition platforms offer pragmatic solutions to alleviate the crisis, their input is met with disregard."
Earlier, over two hundred incoming students of Jamalpur Science and Technology University attended the orientation and career guidance seminar. Organizers welcomed the new students with floral receptions and gifted them copies of the Holy Quran, backpacks, desk organizers, keychains, pens, Islamic publications, and prayer stickers.
The program was presided over by JUST Chhatra Shibir President Hafez Md. Mamunur Rashid and moderated by Secretary Fahad Ahmad, with student leaders, university attendees, and invited dignitaries present.
