NCP Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam
Chief Organizer of the Northern Region for the National Citizen Party (NCP) Sarjis Alam has asserted that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is steadily derailing and drifting toward governance failure due to its inability to accept constructive criticism.
The NCP leader made the remarks while addressing media inquiries on August 28 prior to joining an organizational conference and political workshop organized by the party's Chandpur district unit at the Chandpur Press Club. Highlighting the intolerance to democratic critique, NCP Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam stated:
"Whenever we voice constructive criticism, our friends in the BNP assume we are directly opposing them. It is precisely due to this mindset that the BNP is gradually getting derailed and drifting toward failure, which is detrimental both for the nation and for the party itself. We demand that the government take immediate and decisive steps to ensure justice for all murder and rape incidents across the country."
Alam expressed profound grief over the recent gruesome quadruple murder in Rangpur, emphasizing that as conscious citizens and students, people cannot tolerate such rampant lawlessness while visible law enforcement efforts to apprehend the perpetrators remain virtually absent.
Sharply criticizing Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, the NCP leader alleged that the minister routinely deflects critical parliamentary queries regarding law and order vulnerabilities. Alam pointed out that rather than providing concrete answers, the minister resorts to trivializing interrogators and diverting attention toward unrelated past political events at Shahbagh or Paltan.
Highlighting the unresolved murder of Osman Hadi, Sarjis Alam observed that despite extensive visual evidence and the reported apprehension of suspects in India, the government's rhetoric in parliament remains confined to hollow assurances of extradition procedures without tangible progress on the ground. He cautioned that failure to deliver swift justice in high-profile homicides will inevitably plunge the country's law and order into further deterioration.
Presided over by NCP Chandpur District Convener Md. Mahbub Alam and conducted by Member Secretary Amanullah Patwary, the workshop was also attended by Joint Conveners and Political Council Members Ali Ahsan Junaid and Sarwar Tushar, Joint Member Secretary Saleh Uddin, Cumilla Divisional Organizing Secretary Ataullah, and Organizing Secretary Rifat Rashid, among others.
