Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman
Bangladesh will see the ultimate establishment of Quranic provisions and law, asserted Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Tuesday. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a Dawah gathering organized by the party's Dhaka Metropolitan South chapter at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail in the capital.
Urging citizens to actively participate in the process of implementing divine laws, Shafiqur Rahman stated that the country would be freed and Quranic law would be established by the grace of the Almighty, posing whether people would be part of this realization or left out of it, and praying that everyone receives the fortune to be companions in this journey. Reaffirming his party's commitment to communal harmony, the opposition leader stressed that society will not be pushed toward unrest through divisions rooted in religion. He clearly affirmed that building a discrimination-free society is the core teaching of Islam, and Jamaat will demonstrate this commitment through practical action.
Addressing the Qawmi madrasa community, the Jamaat chief stated that the party does not view them as a separate entity and holds sincere prayers for them. Highlighting their representation in the national legislature, he noted that speaking up for their rightful claims inside parliament is regarded as a primary obligation, maintaining that these positions are not taken to please any particular individual or specific segment of society, but rather stem from a profound conscientious responsibility that will continue in the future. Presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, the gathering was also addressed by chapter Secretary Shafiqul Islam Masud, Assistant Secretary Abdul Mannan, Working Committee Member Joynal Abedin, and former Justice Sayeed Shahedur Rahman, among other leaders.
