National Citizen's Party (NCP) Chief Organizer for the Northern Region, Sarjis Alam, has sharply condemned the physical assault on actress Azmeri Haque Badhon in Italy, labeling the perpetrators "beasts" and "collaborators of killers."
Alam expressed his outrage and extended solidarity to Badhon in a post shared on his verified Facebook page late Monday night (September 7).
Badhon and her family were harassed in a park in Mestre, Italy, where assailants threw eggs and Coca-Cola at her before physically assaulting her. Video footage of the altercation captured the attackers branding Badhon a "July militant" and a "traitor" while aggressively accosting her.
Responding to the footage, Sarjis Alam emphasized that Badhon had actively resisted authoritarianism during the July mass uprising, noting that the nation takes immense pride in her bravery. Addressing Badhon’s reference to the attackers as "Bengali brothers," Alam argued that they were far from brothers—characterizing them instead as unprincipled apologists for fallen tyranny who had stripped themselves of basic humanity.
Alam concluded with a message of reassurance to Badhon, urging her not to lose heart over the actions of individuals with no moral standing, asserting: "We all stand with you. The whole of Bangladesh is with you. We are proud of you."
