Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman affirmed that the parliamentary opposition stands ready to provide any required assistance to the government whenever called upon in the greater interest of the nation. Speaking to reporters on Saturday evening (September 12) following an organizational tour in Tangail, he emphasized that governance and nation-building cannot remain the sole domain of the ruling administration, noting that the opposition maintains an equal sense of civic duty and responsibility toward the state.
Addressing the country’s worsening energy crunch, Rahman observed that highly qualified domestic and international technical experts are available to help mitigate the utility shortfall. He revealed that while formal proposals were submitted to integrate these specialists into governmental advisory frameworks, the administration has yet to formally respond, though the relevant state minister suggested forming an independent panel to present workable recommendations.
Rahman stated that their party has taken to the streets for the second time championing a six-point charter of public demands, though he insisted their demonstrations will remain disciplined and non-violent. Vowing to build a peaceful mass mobilization alongside ordinary citizens, he rejected street vandalism and arson, expressing confidence that persistent, constructive public agitation will ultimately compel the government to address and fulfill the legitimate grievances of the people.
