AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju
Mojibur Rahman Manju, Chairman of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), said that the government has consistently made erroneous decisions since assuming office, turning public goodwill into deep mistrust through repeated blunders.
Addressing the inaugural rally of the 11-party alliance's Dhaka-to-Rangpur long march at Manik Mia Avenue on Saturday morning, Manju said the administration started its journey on flawed premises and deepened public disapproval with every subsequent misstep.
Criticizing the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Manju warned that if the authorities fail to honor the popular referendum mandate, citizens will rebrand the party as a "party without trust" or a "trust-destroying party." He added that failure to ensure judicial accountability for enforced disappearances and state crimes would earn them the label of a "justice-denying party," while chronic electricity shortages would lead the public to call them a "no-electricity party." Together with the general populace, the opposition would ultimately rebrand the BNP as the "Bangladesh Nai Nai (Deficit) Party," he remarked.
Manju noted that citizens had anticipated an effective, accountable, and citizen-centric governance structure alongside robust legal mechanisms against enforced disappearances following recent political transformations. Instead, he claimed the administration has procrastinated on the referendum's verdict, disregarded the July Charter, and enacted fraudulent laws regarding enforced disappearances and human rights.
The inaugural gathering was also addressed by top alliance leaders, including Leader of the Opposition and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Chairman Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmad, and Khelafat Majlis Ameer Maulana Mamunul Haque.
