Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman declared in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon (September 23) that his party will firmly prioritize genuine public grievances, inflation relief, and national constitutional consensus over narrow partisan electoral arithmetic in the evolving political landscape.
Addressing a consultative assembly of central executive council members and district amirs at the party's central coordination office in Maghbazar, Dr. Shafiqur emphasized that the nation stands at a transformative historical crossroads following the overthrow of the authoritarian regime, demanding statesmen who place citizen welfare above parochial power struggles.
The Jamaat chief pointed out that soaring market prices for essential food commodities, escalating fuel overheads, and persistent administrative bottlenecks are inflicting severe misery on ordinary wage earners, urging the interim government to intensify market monitoring and eradicate supply syndicates.
Addressing the leadership conclave in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon, Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated, "Our politics is not driven by an appetite for immediate ministerial seats, but by a solemn commitment to the people. We will tirelessly advocate for public demands—affordable essentials, fair wages, democratic rights, and institutional justice. National unity must supersede all factional squabbles to secure the aspirations of our martyrs."
Dr. Shafiqur also reaffirmed his party's support for electoral reforms, emphasizing that free, fair, and credible general elections must be preceded by structural cleanup of the judiciary, law enforcement, and civil administration to permanently prevent the resurgence of autocratic governance.
