Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim
Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) and widely known as the Charmonai Pir, has strongly criticized the attire of female students participating in a basketball tournament at Dhaka University, accusing DUCSU VP Sadik Kayem of fostering an "indecent environment" by having women compete in pants and sports jerseys.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at a ward representatives' conference organized jointly by the Dhaka Metropolitan North and South units of IAB in the capital on Tuesday (September 29).
Addressing the gathering, Rezaul Karim remarked, "Sadik Kayem is creating an unsightly and indecent environment by fielding girls on the court wearing pants and jerseys. On top of that, he proudly boasts that he achieved this for the first time in the country's history. What theatrics! How long will these tactics continue?"
Turning his attention to national governance, the IAB Ameer asserted that despite gaining independence, citizens have yet to experience true liberation. He argued that social vices—including extortion, terrorism, corruption, looting, enforced disappearances, and killings—continue to surge, claiming that the incumbent administration has failed entirely to curb them. He added that conventional political ideologies have proven ineffective in bringing meaningful societal reform, with political parties routinely reneging on their electoral pledges once in power.
Presided over by IAB Dhaka Metropolitan South President Sheikh Fazle Bari Masud, the conference was also addressed by IAB Presidium Member Syed Mosaddaq Billah Al Madani, Secretary General Gazi Ataur Rahman, alongside other central and metropolitan leaders.
