Jatiya Party faction presidium leaders during the meeting in Gulshan
Leaders of a Jatiya Party (JP) faction emphasized the imperative of establishing the rule of law and practicing inclusive politics to ensure lasting peace and political stability across Bangladesh during a presidium meeting held at the party chairman's political office in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Tuesday (October 6).
The party leadership also called upon the administration to roll out visible interventions to alleviate public distress by curbing soaring commodity prices, halting extortion and unlawful land-grabbing, and restoring law and order.
Presiding over the session, faction Chairman and former Foreign Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud asserted that criminal elements must face legal accountability regardless of their political affiliation, underscoring that genuine stability cannot take root without the rule of law. He noted that the public faces compounding hardships—including rising crime, extortion, skyrocketing inflation, unemployment, and acute gas, electricity, and fuel deficits—that demand prompt state action.
Secretary General and former minister ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader stressed that citizens prioritize day-to-day security and economic relief above political rhetoric. He urged the government to guarantee an environment where citizens can move freely, run businesses, and purchase essentials without hindrance, urging all political forces to act responsibly so political polarization does not burden ordinary people.
The presidium reviewed overall political dynamics, economic indicators, and organizational programs. Prominent attendees who addressed the meeting included Executive Chairman Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Senior Co-Chairman Kazi Firoz Rashid, Co-Chairmen Sahidur Rahman and Mostafa Al Mahmud, Chairman's Special Assistant Nasrin Jahan Ratna, and Presidium Members Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan, former MPs Nurul Islam Milon and Yahya Chowdhury, among others.
