Leader of the Opposition and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman
The Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, stated on Tuesday (October 20) that the raid on a residence owned by a senior police official—resulting in the detention of 84 individuals and the seizure of illegal narcotics—has triggered widespread public fear and highlighted deteriorating law and order across the country.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook profile, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the Detective Branch's operation at the property owned by an Additional DIG, arguing that unlawful activities within the residence of a senior law enforcement officer reflect deep structural weaknesses in administrative oversight. He observed that illicit practices, extortion, robbery, and muggings have escalated nationwide alongside mounting economic hardships, including utility shortages and rising prices of essential goods.
Dr. Rahman contended that rather than resolving public grievances and clamping down on criminality, the administration remains preoccupied with targeting and vilifying political opponents. Urging civic engagement to address prevailing governance and social crises, he concluded that the nation's youth must awaken once again to guide the country forward.
