Prime Bank PLC, through its flagship platform PrimeAcademia, recently organized a seminar titled “Empowering Youth” at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in collaboration with the IUT Career & Business Society (CBS).
The event reflected Prime Bank’s continued commitment to preparing young people for the future by connecting academic learning with practical financial knowledge and real-world experience.
PrimeAcademia is a dedicated platform designed to serve the education community. It helps bridge the gap between universities and industry by providing students and faculty members with opportunities to strengthen financial literacy, develop career skills, build leadership capacity, and gain practical exposure to the financial sector.
The program was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of IUT as the Chief Guest. In his address, he shared valuable reflections on the importance of financial planning and encouraged students to develop saving habits early in life. He also recalled opening a DPS with Prime Bank in 1995, highlighting the long-term benefits of disciplined savings.
The keynote session was delivered by M M Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President & Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking at Prime Bank. He emphasized the importance of financial discipline, continuous self-development, and responsible financial decision-making. He noted that financial inclusion is not limited to opening bank accounts; rather, it is about expanding access to opportunities, reducing inequality, and ensuring meaningful participation in the economy. He also shared practical insights on digital account opening (e-KYC), modern banking services, and how young individuals can prepare themselves for leadership in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
From IUT the event was also attended by Dr. Mwebesa Umar, Registrar, Professor Dr. Md. Anayet Ullah Patwari, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) and Maruful Islam Bhuiyan, FCA, Comptroller. They expressed their appreciation for Prime Bank’s initiative and encouraged continued collaboration between academia and industry. Senior officials from Prime Bank and members of the organizing committee were also present.
Through PrimeAcademia, Prime Bank remains dedicated to empowering youth across the country- turning knowledge into confidence, awareness into action, and potential into impactful leadership through meaningful nationwide initiatives.
