Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku has said that black market operators are attempting to create an artificial fuel crisis by hoarding oil.
He said that the overall fuel supply in the country remains normal, but certain corrupt businessmen are stockpiling oil in an effort to disrupt the market.
The minister made these remarks on Friday while speaking to journalists during a visit to a 68-megawatt solar power plant in Soydabad, Sirajganj.
Meanwhile, the Petrol Pump Owners’ Association has expressed concern that if consumers do not act with restraint, fuel stations could run out of oil within the next 10 days.
The organisation has urged consumers to avoid panic buying and to purchase fuel in a measured manner.
