A “Bangladesh Business Seminar” was held on Friday at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, with the joint participation of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) with the aim of expanding the market for Bangladeshi export products and increasing investment.
At the seminar, Kazuiki Kataoka, Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka, Shota Paku, Team Leader of the Industrial Park Unit of Sumitomo Corporation, and Yuto Tsujide, Representative of BJIT Inc., gave detailed presentations on the economic progress of Bangladesh, the ‘Bangladesh Special Economic Zone’ (BSEZ), and the potential of Bangladesh’s IT sector, respectively.
In his address, the Ambassador emphasized that Bangladesh is currently one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and a safe, attractive destination for investment.
He described the recently signed Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) as a milestone in bilateral trade relations, noting that it will provide duty-free access for more than 7,000 Bangladeshi products in the Japanese market.
He also invited Japanese investors to explore opportunities in key sectors including ready-made garments, leather and leather goods, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food processing, and information technology.
At the conclusion of the seminar, a question-and-answer session was held where JETRO representatives responded to inquiries from Japanese business leaders and investors regarding Bangladesh’s economic landscape. The event was attended by over a hundred representatives and senior officials from leading Japanese companies.
