Gold prices have climbed once again in the domestic market following several consecutive reductions. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of high-quality gold by Tk 1,050 per bhori, setting the retail price of 22-carat gold at Tk 2,32,930 per bhori.
The price of 22-carat gold jewellery was raised by Tk 1,050 per bhori (11.664 grams) on Saturday (September 12). Since 10:00 am on that day, gold and silver ornaments have been retailing at the revised rates, and domestic outlets are actively selling items at these adjusted price levels today.
Under the new price chart established by BAJUS, the price of hallmarked 22-carat gold per bhori stands at Tk 2,32,930. In addition, 21-carat gold has been priced at Tk 2,22,490 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 1,91,056 per bhori. The price for traditional method gold has been set at Tk 1,56,064 per bhori.
Prior to this upward revision, BAJUS had adjusted prices on Friday, slashing the rate of top-quality gold by Tk 2,158 to fix it at Tk 2,31,880 per bhori.
BAJUS clarified that the price adjustment was necessitated by an increase in the cost of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local bullion market and overall market conditions.
The association noted that making charges will apply depending on the design and craftsmanship of jewellery pieces. However, because government value-added tax (VAT) is already accounted for within the stated sales price of gold and silver jewellery, no separate VAT can be collected from retail consumers. This pricing schedule will remain in effect across all jewellery establishments in the country until further notice.
Meanwhile, the price of 22-carat silver jewellery has been fixed at Tk 5,016 per bhori. Furthermore, 21-carat silver is retailing at Tk 4,782 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk 4,082 per bhori, and traditional method silver has been fixed at Tk 3,091 per bhori.
