The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved the draft Concession Agreement for the operation and maintenance of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT), including the Overflow Yard (OCY), at Chittagong Port by an international terminal operator for 15 years.
The approval was given at the 31st meeting of the CCEA held at the Cabinet Division in the capital, with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
According to a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Shipping, the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) will execute the agreement under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project titled “Operation and Maintenance of CPA’s New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) including Overflow Yard (OCY)”.
Meanwhile, the CCEA granted in-principle approval to a proposal from the Ministry of Industries to import urea fertiliser from Russian manufacturer JSC SHCHEKINOAZOT through Delta Star Trading FZ-LLC of the United Arab Emirates under the Direct Purchase Method (DPM).
