A container vessel berthed at Patenga Container Terminal in Chattogram.
RSGT Bangladesh, the concessionaire operating the Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) in Chattogram, has set an operational productivity record by handling 122 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containers per hour across a peak throughput of 72 moves per hour. The milestone was achieved during cargo handling operations on CMA CGM’s container vessel MV Amouro.
According to port and terminal stakeholders, cargo handling operations for the vessel were completed in 21 hours on October 18. During this turnaround window, ground crews loaded and discharged 1,524 containers—equivalent to roughly 2,571 TEUs. The output marks the highest handling productivity recorded at the terminal since the commissioning of its Ship-to-Shore (STS) gantry cranes.
The performance exceeds RSGT Bangladesh's previous record set in September, when terminal cranes handled 82 TEUs per hour across 58 moves. French shipping liner CMA CGM praised the handling speed, citing it as demonstrable evidence of enhanced turnaround times and international-standard terminal productivity.
As the country’s first private international container terminal operator, RSGT Bangladesh aims to bolster the regional competitiveness of Bangladesh's maritime gateways to meet shifting trade demands. Commenting on the performance, RSGT Bangladesh Chief Operating Officer (COO) Nabil Yusuf stated that the operator remains committed to setting new benchmarks in operational agility, maintaining global standards, and securing long-term port growth to fortify Bangladesh's position in global supply chains.
