BCB President Tamim Iqbal
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal has been named as a member of the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Normalization Committee, taking on an expanded governance portfolio within world cricket's apex governing body.
The Normalization Committee plays an instrumental, decisive role within global cricket administration, primarily stepping in to examine and review matters when questions arise regarding the legitimacy, governance standards, administrative stability, or regulatory recognition of national cricket boards. In particular, the committee is responsible for evaluating whether a national cricket board is operating legitimately or unlawfully, and determining whether formal international recognition should be granted, suspended, or withheld.
The appointment marks another significant step in Tamim Iqbal’s international administrative career. Earlier, the BCB chief was appointed chairman of the ICC’s Franchise Cricket Committee, tasked with overseeing franchise leagues and international scheduling balance. With this latest induction into the Normalization Committee, the BCB president secures a pivotal position across multiple high-level ICC panels.
