Mushfiqur rules out of ODI series with finger injury
Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the two remaining matches of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Sharjah after sustaining a finger injury during Wednesday’s first match.
Mushfiqur sustained an injury in his left index finger while keeping wickets towards the end of Afghanistan’s batting innings on the day and a fracture has been found near the DIP joint, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) press release confirmed on Thursday.
Towards the end of Afghanistan’s batting innings, Mushfiqur injured the tip of his left Index finger while keeping wickets, team physio Delowar Hossain said.
An X-ray after the match confirmed a fracture in his left Index near the DIP joint and he is under conservative management and is not available for the second and third ODIs, he said.
Further updates on his condition and expected recovery period will be provided in due course, Delowar Hossain said.
Bangladesh lost the first ODI by 92 runs after a horrible batting collapse and trailed the series 0-1.
The second and third matches are slated respectively on 9 and 11 November.
