86,277 employed in 100 days under interim govt initiatives
The interim government has facilitated employment for 86,277 individuals across various ministries within the first 100 days of its tenure.
Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan shared the updates during a press conference at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The conference highlighted the progress made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Addressing the press, Adviser Asif Mahmud said: “The current unemployment figure in the country stands at 10.8 million, including 2,600,000 graduates. The Ministry of Youth and Sports aims to create jobs for 500,000 unemployed individuals over the next two years. Within the past 100 days alone, employment for 86,277 people has been secured across various sectors, including revenue-generating activities.”
He also outlined a new employment initiative for students to work as traffic police assistants.
“This program will employ both male and female students, with 2,100 positions available.
Among them, 231 individuals have already started working, and the remaining positions will be filled soon,” he added.
The initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to reducing unemployment and promoting youth engagement in various sectors.
